I can appreciate your concerns. But having a college degree isn’t as cut-and-dried an indicator of ability as you might think. Yes, it is good to have, but often *where* you got your degree is seen as more important.

As a veteran and a manager who occasionally (but not lately) does hire..if I have 2 applicants both equal in the interview, one has a 4 year college degree and the other did 4 years in marines, navy, AF, Army..Good conduct discharge, made acceptable rank in the 4 years, lets say E-5..you know who gets the job…the former military..and I know alot of managers who are not even ex military who think this way…main reason..reliability and dependability and a degree of discipline.
