Well the bit of good news is that due to pressure from investors some of the major companies in the sands are saying they’re going to use better ecologically sound methods of extraction that are less destructive. BP had to deal with investor demands, gave and quelled some, just this past week and Shell, Exxon and ConcoPhillips are having to deal with demands in the coming months.

Seems like an iffy investment. Given the coming policy changes regarding AGW what kind of return will they be looking at? The water issue remains unresolved. Tailings leakage into underground water aquifers. Are we willing to sacrifice the water supply for this? Right now it’s a low key operation compared to what we’ll be seeing especially after last weeks IPO and the infusion of Chinese capital to the tune of about 60 percent.
