Do you find yourself a little bit out of the loop with the casual conversations that other people (those who watch TV) have?

I find that I do at times.

It is a think a problem of common reference. For too many people, their common cultural reference is what the MSM spews at them from the tube.

We have become an un-serious people and I think the TV has a lot to do with that. I don’t want to sound condescending or arrogant…hell, I watch TV too, but I keep a skeptical eye out and try to stay aware of when I’m being manipulated.
What is truly damaging is the manipulation in the news. It’s one thing to get lost in American Idol (which I do not watch) and totally another to take your news from the Daily Show or the Colbert Report or the almost indiscernibly more credible mainstream outlets.
