We are talking about community policing visits to mosques.

Again, I’m not sure that’s clear. The eight “community support officers” are presumably going be doing only friendly visits, but probably not the other seven.

I don’t think it’s clear exactly how they’re going to play this. Maybe, if a woman calls for help from within the mosque, the dispatcher will direct the male officers and the non-covered female officers to handle traffic inside, and only allow suitably covered-up police women inside. I don’t know.

Personally, I think it’s great that police women would wear scarves while making friendly visits, but wrong to require that they do so while on patrol, investigating crimes, etc.
