Can someone give me a short description of what the GamerGate controversy is all about? I have tried to follow it but I just don’t get it. There was some issue with female game developers being harassed or was it the fact that games are for guys and they don’t want girls developing or even playing.

I mean, obviously, female characters in gaming have some weird body configurations, just like in comic books, but that’s a typical male fantasy, were developers suggesting they should be more like real life?

GamerGate is, on its face, a reaction to a female game developer who was accused of sleeping with reviewers in exchange for positive reviews of her games. This, of course, spiraled into a massive MRA clusterfuck about women and video games, but when asked, it was always about “ethics in gaming journalism”.
