There was talk in 2004 and 2008 by Democrats that Bush would either cancel or ignore the election.

Bush was a bad president, but he did respect the office and the constitution (in that odd way conservatives have) and I never believed he’d try to cancel the election.

Bush was probably the last Republican president who will be remembered as not completely insane. Because after Trump they’re all going to try to emulate him.
