Exactly. If I were planning on attending a rally, I would most likely prepare my sign(s) a few days beforehand, in pencil. Not until I was absolutely sure no errors appeared, would I apply the Sharpies.

You can see that a lot of people do have beautifully (and correctly) lettered signs. Some of the misspelled ones were clearly written in Sharpie in the car on the way to the demo.

Others…well, we are all mortal, as Shakespeare would have pointed out.
