re: #46 goddamnedfrank

Right, those Tea Party simpatico people all coincidentally became acutely aware of and worried about these problems after the Black Democratic President took office.

I’ve been mulling this for a few minutes to try to give a fair response.

There are plenty of racist or plain ignorant conspiracy freaks who are against President Obama for all the wrong reasons. I agree with you on that point. That doesn’t mean there aren’t people in middle America (somewhere between Canton Ohio and Las Vegas Nevada) that aren’t struggling to find a political identity that supports their positive values. The Democratic party isn’t going to attract them on single social issues or by expanding the role of government (arguably even during a crisis that may require more government intenrvention).

In order to get traditional conservatives to abandon tranditional party ties you have to offer something positive - not just trash a characture of their beliefs. And most midwestern farmers or construction workers are not thinking about the color of the guy in the whitehouse. They are thinking that they are up to their ears in debt and in danger of never working again.

Elitist diatribes against the unwashed masses will not attract more people to any political party.
