There is really no such thing as ‘leftward’. ‘Left’ and ‘right’ are trivial, incomplete descriptions of wildly complex issues, and their usage benefits politicians, not citizens. We need to judge ideas— and people— on the merits of their ideas, not their position on a fictitious left/right scale.

It’s ruining this country to make everything an ideological battle.

I don’t make everything a ideological battle, but the Dems still have fairly strong statist tendencies. I don’t like such things.
