My architect boss (20 years ago) was talking to someone about his wife’s job one day and he blurted out ‘That’s like comparing an architect to a drafter’. He forgot that he had a draftsman sitting right in the middle of the office. The guy behind me quickly said ‘Al, don’t listen!’ And I think I said ‘Heaven forbid!’ before the room went quiet, and I decided to take a break and visit the bakery across the street. At the place I’m working now, new people are usually there for a couple months before they realize that I’m not an architect. I’m doing the same work on my projects.
