Ah, no. He didn’t get his crew killed for it - one of them did survive and wrote a book about PT-109 and his experiences and blames JFK for nothing that happened. Moreover, unlike John Effin Kerry, JFK did in fact “see” combat and was, IMO,duly awarded a medal for outstanding bravery above and beyond the call of duty.
You didn’t have to agree with him politically; I didn’t.
But you should not denigrate his wartime service; his big daddy Joe could have kept JFK off of PT boats altogether and JFK chose to take one - and PT boat service was notoriously dangerous duty.
