Oh, and private schools generally don’t have tenured positions, and have much higher turnover— they have a lot more freedom in firing teachers, so they’re able to keep wages lower both with the threat of dismissal and simply letting people go when they’ve gotten a lot of seniority and are therefore making a lot more than a fresh-out-of-college teacher would.
