People who are still running IE6 aren’t going to be useful consumers anyway. ;) I’m not sure they could figure out an Internet shopping cart.

Actually, one word: legacy. There are/were a crapload of independent specialized programming companies that write software specifically for a company, meant to do a very particular task. To save programming time they’ll frequently use existing systems for something - in this example IE6 as the specifically cued display. Then because they’re using it in dedicated fashion they’ll hit all the special codes for speed and control and such.

A company that drops several thousand dollars for a program that does exactly what they want does not want to have to redo the program a couple of years later.

I know I keep hitting the M$ fanboy button. But this is another example of why M$ dominates most businesses. Most companies don’t need the newest and shiniest for operations.
