True enough, except that it will continue to breed in the shed, slipping out to infest spaces like garages. It must be rooted out.
A couple years ago I realized that a large-ish house with many closets can hide a lot of stuff no one actually wants. You know how you keep things “in case the kids want it? I’m here to tell you they probably don’t. They’re in their mid 30s and I check with them before getting rid of anything I might want, but generally they don’t.

One of the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life was move from a 2500ish sq ft home into a 34’ motorhome. Not because of lack of space - I actually love that. It was parting with several lifetimes of stuff. It was my late parent’s stuff, my late husband’s stuff, it was stuff from my own lifetime. I didn’t need any of it but saying goodbye to each single piece, every memory it held was emotionally exhausting. I had to hire an estate sale person because I couldn’t deal with putting price tags on memories that were priceless to me. I knew if I tried to do it myself I wouldn’t be able to part with anything.

The happy ending is that it was also liberating beyond description. I was enslaved by all that stuff and I knew it. I have no regrets. Well one - I should have kept my hubby’s little red wagon because dragging a big bag of trash to the dumpster is a PITA.
