There is absolutely no reason why the government would need to be involved in this at all. There should be a centralized database available, though, because that would take most of the initial guesswork out of things.

Thanks! Private business creates this kind of file share at the drop of a hat. I agree that government has no legitimate role. Seems evident that insurance companies alone would have all the incentive they need to create such a thing. Is there some government impediment I wonder? Looks like another Lib wedge issue to me.
