I don’t know. I live about halfway up Illinois, and they have been here for about 15 years, I think. Our old house probably was insulated with them, in the old walls.

They live under the clapboards/siding.
I’m used to huge swarms of them invading in the middle of winter the minute the outside temp goes above ~40F, even if just for a day or two.
