Mine were voting for Tweed’s Pittsburgh counterpart. We got out of New York pretty quickly. The west but not far west called.
I just finished, again, Thomas Pynchon’s Mason & Dixon and, historically speaking, it wasn’t that long ago that Philadelphia marked the boundary between civilization and the wilderness. The US westward expansion was a bit more than a montage.
