Horror actors (and writers and other creators) need to be in touch with human emotion to bring the scares. I think that’s why so many seem to be good people — they’ve got finely developed empathy.

I think that applies to all of the actors, which is why the conservative ones tend to get fewer roles, and the ones they play can be kind of stiff.
