That China is an authoritarian government directly allowed them to go all hardcore with the shutdowns.

It worked, at least mostly, it appears, though that type of control does have its blowback, and many Chinese appear to be angry at how they are treated.

What about the South Koreans? Seems like they have a good handle on it, and they’re not quite so authoritarian.
