There are small towns in the California hills where the confederate flag is really popular, too— and with no excuse of ‘heritage’.
I can’t begin to tell you how shocked I was to find such a large contingent of California rednecks when I moved up to Sacramento. Being from the East Coast my image of California was basically a really long but really narrow state, only about 25 miles wide. You know, one giant beach.
Imagine my surprise in seeing a plethora of cowboy boots, pickup trucks sporting gun racks to hold fishing poles and more rebel flag license plates than I’d seen since visiting my Dad and brother in Alabama.
