Yep, before they wanted to build a community center that happened to contain a mosque, there was no push to make it a landmark, not push to preserve it, no push to do…well…anything with it. If Wall-Mart had proposed tearing it down and putting up a vertical store there, nobody would have so much as whimpered.

How much push to declare it a landmark do you think there would have been if they wanted to tear it down to build some glass and chrome mega-church in downtown New York?
