That’s an awful lot of stitches for a facial wound. I managed to slice the hell out of my hand a few years ago, and it only required 10 stitches.

Apparently they used fine thread, so they needed more stitches than you would have gotten in your hand. (I put a 1 in. gash in my hand many years ago and that only took 5 stitches, so yeah, 12 is a lot, probably still a lot with the finer thread.)
