We’re the only critters in need of forgiveness. As cognizant creatures, we’re morally culpable.

My dog goes with me every time I go to church and communion.

He doesn’t partake of the Eucharist, because, as SFZ said above, he is without sin.

But the pastor always gives him a blessing, and once a year, in honor of Saint Francis, we have the blessing of the animals, where the priest says a prayer over them and you can bring your dog, your cat, your rabbit, or your atheist weasel.

Anyone has anything against Saint Francis, I invite you to take it up with an Alaskan wolf.
