The problem with this whole “arrest the bastards already” philosophy is that it ignores the fact that it will be a royal bloodbath - probably on both sides, despite the fact that the police now know more or less what they’re getting into. It would be a PR disaster on the order of Waco or Ruby Ridge even though there’s no doubt in my mind that these idiots will be shooting back and probably cause some police casualties. And even if, by some chance, this is not the most likely outcome, it’s likely enough to give even the stoutest sheriff pause.

I’m not sure the comparison to Ruby Ridge and Waco will hold up in the aftermath. People can clearly see that these thugs are going onto public property to intimidate and terrorize. Neither Randy Weaver nor the Branch Davidians did that.
