People need to remember that in this country debt equals investment.

It really depends on what the money is spent on. Improving education, supporting scientific research and spending on alternative energy are investments. Paying for the umpteenth Benghazi investigation is unlikely to yield dividends. Building more tanks than we need is no investment.

Debt can reflect investment, but only if politicians choose wisely.
