He traced the problem to Kennedy’s 1960 speech to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association, in which Kennedy – then a candidate for president - sought to allay concerns about his Catholicism by declaring, “I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute.”

Are you kidding me? The reason Kennedy felt compelled to say this was because the protestant religions, including the evangelicals were worried about a catholic trying to merge his religion with the state. So he made it clear to them he completely supported the concept of division between church and state. Now that the evangelicals want NO separation, they are criticizing Kennedy for saying this? Are you &^%$^% kidding me?
