It will depend on who holds the trademarks/copyright on the show. If there are non-compete clauses, which would seem like SOP, then they’d have a hard time going to another network without changing up the concept.

If the family owns the copyright/trademarks, and there isn’t a noncompete, then they could use that as a bargaining chip to go to another network. But all too often, the producers/networks have all the cards on the contracts - that they have the noncompetes and trademark/copyright ownership.

Far as I can tell, A&E registered the “Duck Dynasty” trademark when the show was created. The Robertsons had a show on the Outdoor Channel, but it didn’t go by the same name. My assumption at this point was that the idea that they could just quit and take the show on the road seemed fanciful, as A&E likely has the contract set up so that any decision on the family’s part to bug out would mean surrendering enough control over the show and intellectual property as to leave them with no way to resume on another station.
