Serious question though, as you are a translator of various texts.

I’ve read The Iliad and The Odyssey on my little PalmPilot. Both versions used Roman names instead of Greek names (i.e. Jove and Juno rather than Zeus and Hera). Is this common?

In earlier translations, very. Doubtless you had something from the public domain like Chapman. If you like the older diction, there ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. I can give specific recommendations if you want to read Homer in newer translations with notes and stuff.

Speaking of public domain, W.B. Yeats just went out of copyright protection. I’m thinking of putting all his stuff up on Kindle and making a killing in the electronic Irish lit market. Next time we talk I’ll be on my private jet to the Aran Islands.
