My grandparents’ house had a very near miss with a tornado in 2000. They lost the tin off the roof and so the house still had to be gutted, but at least it was still standing (which was more than could be said for the old barn and a few other outbuildings).

Some of the tin was completely wrapped around nearby trees. May still even be there.

In 1965, a tornado waltzed through the fishfolks’ hometown (not too far from where they live now, in point of fact) and right past my mother’s house. 30 years to the day later, another tornado followed the exact same path through the town. You really can’t make this stuff up sometimes.
