The one that drives me batty is the loons who want to privatize the Post Office, or as they put it, “End the Government’s monopoly on first class mail”. They talk about how the USPS loses money every year, and how FedEx could do it better.

I say, “Sure. But FedEx has to put a post office in every podunk town in America and staff it, and deliver to every address in America, every day, regardless of whether or not that office or that delivery can be done at a profit.”

This leads to hemming and hawing and mumbling about, “Well, SOME services might have to go…”

Part of how FedEx makes their profit… is that for small towns and rural routes, they deliver their FedEx envelope to the post office and let USPS take it the last miles.
