I was at Manassas a few months back. It was interesting and depressing all at once - interesting because of its significance and just how close it was to DC as the crow flies, and depressing due to the fact that the battlefield is bisected and sliced and diced by all manner of highways and development.

I know there are efforts to try and preserve adjacent properties for eventual integration into the battlefield, but it’s still a patchwork.

I commute through that Battlefield every morning. It is sad to see it used that way, but I’m often reminded of what transpired while sitting in that traffic. A good morning fog enhances the feeling.
