Despite the Virginia State Police having over 2,600 employees, they have been completely unable to manage this situation. Colonel Steve Flaherty needs to resign today.

OK, to be fair: how many of those “2,600 employees” are uniformed officers, and how many might be available for duty in Charlottesville?

That said, law-enforcement “management” of this whole affair seems shockingly inadequate- I’d like to think there would be some sort of official inquiry on the State level, but I won’t hold my breath….
