This is going to end unsatisfyingly because genre is more of a vibe than boundaried garden, so whether science fantasy or speculative depictions of the future count as “science fiction” is going to adjust the timeline considerably.
It’s also going to get weird when you realize that what consistutes “science” is also variable so stories that are now considered pure fantasy in the past would be considered to be speculation in keeping with the knowledge systems of the time.
If it’s not contemporary, it’s fantasy. Gravity sails are as much fantasy as wands.
