I think the State should get out of the marriage business altogether, it is a vestigial connection between Church and State and is unconstitutional; look what traction it gives to the bigoted religious types, this is just the stuff the founding fathers wanted to avoid. Let the State issue civil unions only, and the Churches can marry, there are lots of churches with lots of rules, you can find what you want.
