Meanwhile, my own parents are using this to make a point at me regarding immigration (apparently, my Mom buys into the “children raised as terrorists” thing, while my Dad is a WASP-hole).

Which is ironic in my dad’s case. Mostly Dutch and German, and they took generations to assimilate. They wouldn’t fully assimilate till WWI, and that was done out of fear.

My folks are a product of the extreme right-wing fundamentalist Christian machine. I don’t know if I’d go so far as to call them true psychopaths, but there are definitely some short-circuits somewhere in their mental wiring.
