Here in the Dallas area, we’re getting through another round of rain. Thursday night, a system came through and stalled over Garland, dumping six inches on the city and surrounding areas. This morning, we’ve had another heavy bout of rain. A lot of our streets are starting to look like what we saw earlier this week down in Austin/San Antonio.

For those who like numbers, here’s the Army Corps of Engineers’ page for lakes under Fort Worth Area managment: swf-wc.usace.army.mil. At the beginning of the year, at least 90% of the Difference column was red. The two lakes nearest me, Ray Hubbard and Lavon (which feeds into Ray Hubbard) were 10 and 14 ft below. Now, Lavon is over flood stage, and Ray Hubbard is a foot over, and that’s with them opening the dams for the last two weeks. The numbers at the dams now are incredible: Ray Hubbard is releasing 20,000 cfs.
