As someone who has looked into immigration to Canada, they are not very interested in making it easy to come and stay. :(

My grandfather was Canadian, from a small fishing village in Novia Scotia. I did’t know until I was an adult that he was an ill eagle in the US, having snuck across the border about 1910. I’ve wondered if that could open a Canadian door for me. Probly not, but I’ve been tempted to check it out.
