If Jesus was historical, he was probably an apocalyptic prophet preaching the world was going to end soon. Such earthly matters as to who runs Judea, etc., thus were not of primary concern. Hence “render unto Caesar”, etc. There isn’t much to suggest he saw himself as a political/rebel leader.
