I was just thinking about how power was controlled in Pittsburgh in the 1960’s when I was growing up. The main families came from the post-Civil War industrial families. Plus some of the newer Fortune 500 firms headquartered there.
Kind of interesting that the same families were able to maintain power in your county through all the changes of the past 2 centuries.
Oh yes. Pittsburghers remember how the Mellons, Hillmans and Scaifes called the shots in Pittsburgh.
