Amazing, isn’t it? Yet it is pretty clear what Buchanan does for MSNBC: he is their token hater, who they can hold up as the iconified “conservative” and point to.

Why do blogs like Townhall run Buchanan? Because they know their readership actually likes Buchanan?

I’m sure thats TownHalls motivation, but I disagree vis a vis MSNBC. It is MSNBC’s motive to trot him out to “prove” that he is “the ” conservative voice, and the whackier his pronouncements and comments while on there increases the glee on the left. Meanwhile, in that they generally don’t have a reasoned conservative on there the right has no way to counter his bombast there
