I can think of nothing better than being able to take leave to bond with a child for a period of time to help them during critical months, especially when child care costs are insane. In NYC metro area, the typical day care cost is around $1,500 a month.

If you tried to pay a nanny for a 40 hour week at $15 an hour, you’d be looking at $600 a week or $2400 a month. It’s little wonder many people decide to be stay at home parents because they can’t afford to work and send their kid to day care. Something has to give.

And if you’re a single parent, what are your choices? It’s even worse.

So right wingers attack Buttigieg because he’s taking FMLA? Fuck these right wing lunatics with a rusty pitchfork sideways. He’s not only entitled to the FMLA, but it’s something we should encourage because there’s nothing more important than caring for your family.
