re: #83 Decatur Deb
Never heard of it until a dozen comments ago. What I’m using it for here is the distinction between someone who has a well-meaning religious mission to share (his) truth, and someone who has problems not only with Jewish theology, but with Jews as an ethnic group.
Ok. I’m with ya.
Well, if I would get into a heated, down and dirty discussion with my Christian friends, they would surely agree they are right. Why not? I would surely agree I am right! I’ve had some Christian friends say some pretty strange things to me! And mostly I blow it off because I don’t think they mean to be insulting. I know them, they like me, I like them. If it’s a slur, I’ll tell them they made a slur. But if they say, “Christians are perfected.” I would tell them *I* certainly don’t feel that way, but hey… let’s go get a hamburger. Did you see the latest Tom Hanks movie?
(I’m a big subject switcher with things that make me uncomfortable especially if they aren’t worth arguing about).
