A wingnut just told me that the minimum wage is a form of welfare, because in his mind, anything that the employer pays above what he values the value of an employee’s work at is welfare. Yeah, in his mind, wages that already can’t get a person working 40 hours a week above the poverty line are a form of welfare. Somebody please shoot me and put me out of my misery.

They think all workers (including salaried professionals) should work for NO PAY, just for the “Dignity of Work” (whatever the fuck that means) and anything else that the massa jrrb creator bestows upon them is a gift from the goodness of his heart and not because they earned it.
