When I studied German, I had a heck of a time with the grammar. There are 6 words for “the”, 5 for “a” and everthing gets an ending. Then on top of that, word order gets changed around. If I were to say in English: “I would have gone home first, but I stopped to get gas” it would be something like: I would home first gone have, but I had gas to get stopped.
I think
