Chinese educators are acutely aware that the current system rewards memorization and regurgitation over creativity and analysis, but it’s a matter of great debate whether the Communist Party really wants creative, analytical citizens or workers who can only follow directions.
I know. I was in Thailand doing training with people from several Asian countries and was discussing that with the director of quality (an ex-pat American). This is a real problem for them because even in manufacturing, the inability to critically think allows more defects to go through before being caught in production.
What grade do you teach? I cannot recall.
