Ahh! So it’s progressive taxation that secured these blessings. And here i thought it was sales taxes, duties on imports, and things of that sort. How foolish of me.

Ya get that, everyone? Progressive taxation has been the system of funding the state since the dawn of civilization.

You need to get ahold of the folk writing the history books and let them know, because there’s not much evidence of it as a matter of policy until the late 19th century. i;m sure economists will benefit from your discovery.
