re: #92 lawhawk

They’re going to make a run at overturning Roe and PP of PA v. Casey. They’re gunning for a legal fight, even though restrictions of this kind on their face should be thrown out as unconstitutional restrictions under Casey’s analysis.

Full text of the Kansas HB 2253.

State defines abortion as:

I have no idea how they’re going to treat unborn children for tax benefits at the state level, and federal language (which gives benefits like the EITC for children of the taxpayer) - and under common usage, would indicate a live baby, not a fetus in utero. But the KS law would seem to extend that right to a fetus upon fertilization, which then runs into a tax question when a pregnancy spans two tax years. Then there are things like welfare and other benefits for children at the state level. And what about a pregnancy that terminates naturally.

This whole thing is rotten to the core. And it undermine’s a woman’s civil rights, as the KS legislature supersedes a woman’s rights to those of an unborn fetus, embryo, and zygote. It’s absurd.

Not a lawyer or doctor, but the last time I looked, the common IVF attempt would produce the death murder of a handful of small ‘persons’.
