If you get off the main streets in a lot of places around Center City or Rittenhouse Square there is a maze of these little streets and courts with row houses and small properties. And little park areas are squirreled away in some of them. Have to download the “good” camera since I have pictures from walks there - this set was quick iPhone stuff.

Hey, I lived in Kensington 40 yrs ago and it was a tough working class neighborhood then. And full of narrow little streets and nothing but row houses but no parks there. I lived on Hope St and N. American St., both above Girard and close to and parallel to Front St (our local shopping area)—probably not there any longer. It was an experience, for sure since there is no kind of urban industrial housing like that in the south. The south specialized in “shotgun” houses, though for its mill workers but they were cheaply built, one story, clapboard stand alones.
