The funny thing is, every single one of his political opponents had a very simple line of attack that they could have beat him over the head with:

Successful businesspeople do not end up in bankruptcy six times.

They did. It didn’t work. He basically said “You don’t understand how business works”, and because he was the one guy in the GOP primary race willing to be a constantly belligerent racist, he won.
