Yeah, that’s sort of what I was referring to. There’s sort of a whole class of LGF members who are just here for the spinoff links — to submit them, and/or ding them up or down, without ever participating in the comments section.

I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. Lots of people may have worthwhile links to exchange, and they just don’t happen to feel like chatting here all day. More power to them. But the “twin sites” dichotomy does mean that the links section can evolve a completely different feel from the comments section, and it frequently seems to veer into far-right craziness. Actually at some point within the past few weeks, one of those “links only” crazies actually posted a few comments, and promptly got himself banned in the process.

Well, I want to chat with folks, and know what they’re about. As I said a bit upthread, when I click the links, I tend to click the ones posted by nics I’m familiar with, rather than ones who I have to clue about.
